The 2017 Peter Rabbit 50p coin was released as part of the second series celebrating Beatrix Potter's life and work, featuring her most iconic character from The Tale of Peter Rabbit. This coin was the first of four Beatrix Potter designs issued by The Royal Mint in 2017 and has become highly popular among collectors.

The reverse, designed by Emma Noble, depicts Peter Rabbit running in his signature blue coat, accompanied by the inscription "THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT" around the edge. The obverse features the fifth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, created by Jody Clark.
