Britannia, a figure of Roman origin, has long stood as a national icon of strength and perseverance. Recognised by King Charles II, she was first used on coins centuries ago and has since become a staple of British identity. 

Her image now appears on bullion coins and bars trusted worldwide. After the successful integration of security features on our Britannia coins, The Royal Mint has now incorporated three advanced visual security features onto our Britannia gold bullion bars. 

These features - latent image, surface animation and micro-text - add further depth to Jody Clark’s rendition of Britannia, featuring her in a Corinthian helmet, wielding a trident and shield with the Union flag.
